North Tipperary and Kennedy Tour.

A personal history guide will travel with you to North Tipperary and show you the ancient sights off the beaten path. The mythology and folklore go hand in hand in this ancient part of Ireland. A stop off to meet the Chieftan of the Kennedy clan is a must. And to finish your trip, a gentle cruise down the River Shannon.

Bianconi’s Road & Athassel Priory

A private tour guide will show you some hidden gems and give you the history and folklore of the area. Close to Cashel, Athassel Priory was one of the largest and most important Augustinian priories in Ireland with the Prior having a seat in English Parliament.

In the Glen of Aherlow, Charles Bianconi established the first coach system of travel in Munster and later in all of Ireland. The original road from the mid-18th century can be tricky to find but you will be in good hands with your guide.

The views from the area around Christ the King are simply stunning.

  • Start at Athassel Priory, private guided tour.

KILKENNY DAY TRIP

Kilkenny is a medieval city just over an hour from Baileys. The castle there was built in 1195 and is very well preserved. Known for its many fine examples of architecture, Kilkenny is also known for its culture, craic and arts industries.

Derrynaflan & Holycross/Loughmore Guided Tour

The Derrynaflan Chalice was found on the grounds of the old church on Derrynaflan Island. Surrounded by bogland, the natural environment provides a home for rare butterflies and flora. Our guide will lead you through the bog straight to the old church and will tell of the history and folklore on the way.

The second part of the tour will bring you to either Loughmore Castle or Holycross Abbey, again with guided tours provided and a stop at either The Tearooms in Loughmore or Glasheens in Holycross.
